ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
I make photographs. Whether creating portraits in a studio, or selecting
and composing part of a landscape, I view the process as at most my interpretation
of reality. The picture forms the place where I interact with the subject
and the viewer. Within that interaction exists room for imagination.
My pictures are minimalistic. Fear, wonder, desire, and irreverence loom
large in my work whether capturing a mood in a portrait or evoking an emotional
response to things around us. My approach to landscape begins with looking down
at what is at my feet and finding elements in the small that distill the large.
I
use various cameras - from $10 plastic cameras to large format view cameras.
I sometimes stress my images during capture or post-exposure to introduce random
elements into the process. I look for the defining flaw. Other times I seek ironic
juxtapositions in combining modern digital with traditional alternative techniques.
Everyone back in the pool.
